Dysport®, like Botox®, is a botulinum toxin type A, and is another alternative for relaxing facial muscles and reducing the appearance of wrinkles, frown lines and crow’s feet. Over time, repeated contraction and tightening of the facial muscles cause wrinkles. Dysport® and Botox work in the same way to block signals from the nerves to the muscles, and allows reduction in muscle activity. This results in a more relaxed and refreshed appearance.

Dysport® injections have the same efficacy as Botox® but has been reported to have a quicker onset (2-4 days) and because of its chemical make-up, may last longer. Dysport’s® molecular structure allows for a weaker immune response from the body to break down the toxin. This may also make it a good choice for Botox® patients who find Botox® no longer works because their body has developed antibodies.
